Famous ISU Athletes- Athletic Hall of Fame
In 1982, Intercollegiate Athletics honored some of university’s notable athletes and athletic administrators by establishing the ISU Athletic Hall of Fame. Since then, ISU Athletics has added more and more individuals that led ISU sports teams, become well respected athletes, or encouraged the development of athletics locally and nationally. Several of the members are well known for their success, including the Men’s 1979 Basketball team which included the now famous Larry Bird, coach John Wooden who went on to become a famous University of California coach, and Olympic athletes Bruce Baumgartner, Kurt Thomas, and Benita Edds. However some are perhaps lesser known, like Junius Bibbs, Margaret Gisolo, and Arthur Strum, or just names on plaques and facilities you pass daily like Klueh, Bob Warn, Eleanor Forsythe St. John, or Gibson. Though some Hall of Famers would go on to become professional athletes or win Olympic medals and star in movies, others made an impact on the teams and people at ISU, or went on to coach others in the sports they loved. Whether nationally or locally known, these individuals and teams have made an important mark on ISU athletics.
